GALERÍA RUBÉN RÍOS was established in San Juan, PR (since 1985 in Santurce) by his owner and artist Rubén Ríos, as a showcase of his trajectory on the Caribbean Contemporary Art

About the Artist

Rubén Ríos was born at the City of Bayamón, Puerto Rico in 1948. He studied drawing and painting at Liga de Estudiantes de Arte in Old San Juan with professors Jorge Rechany and Luis Hernández Cruz.

After finishing his studies at Liga de Estudiantes de Arte he attended seminars at the School of Plastic Arts of San Juan, where he furthered his training in painting and sculpture.

He did independent studies at the University of Puerto Rico(Rio Piedras Campus) under the tutelage of professors Alberto Ortiz Collazo, Luis Hernández Cruz and John Balossi.

Subsequently, he worked and studied with John Balossi, Augusto Marín and Jorge Rechany in their respective studios.

At present he performs at his "atelier" and owns GALERIA RUBEN RIOS in Santurce.

Rubén Ríos nace en 1948 en la ciudad de Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Luego de sus estudios en primaria y secundaria pasó a la Liga de Estudiantes de Arte en el Viejo San Juan donde cursó estudios de dibujo y pintura con los profesores Jorge Rechany y Luis Hernández Cruz. Luego de su preparación en la Liga tomó varios seminarios de pintura y escultura en la Escuela de Artes Plásticas en el Viejo San Juan bajo la tutela del profesor Luis Hernández Cruz. De la Escuela de Artes Plásticas pasó a la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras, donde estudió bajo la tutela de los profesores Alberto Ortiz Collazo, Luis Hernández Cruz y John Balossi.

Posterior e independientemente, estudió con John Balossi, Augusto Marín y Jorge Rechany en sus respectivos estudios.

En la actualidad labora en su "atelier" y posee su propia galería en Santurce; GALERIA RUBEN RIOS, donde tuvo lugar su más reciente exposición: "Oceanario Tropical" (2014-16). Aparte de ello, ha participado en exposiciones recientes en varios museos.
